Topstep vs Lucid Trading: rules compared (2026)
Topstep is the established name; Lucid is the fast-payout challenger. They differ on how the floor trails and on how strict the consistency rule is.
Drawdown
Topstep trails intraday in real time — $2,000 on a 50K — and once funded the floor only climbs to your $50,000 start, then locks. Lucid's plans all trail end-of-day ($2,000 on a 50K) and lock at your starting balance, so intraday spikes never move your floor. If you give profit back mid-session, Lucid's EOD model is more forgiving than Topstep's intraday trail.
Daily loss limit
Topstep carries a $1,000 daily loss limit on a 50K. Lucid's Pro plan has a $1,200 daily loss that acts as a soft breach (it pauses your session rather than closing the account); Flex has none. Different philosophies on the per-session backstop.
Consistency & payouts
Topstep applies a 50% consistency cap plus a minimum winning-day requirement. Lucid varies by plan: Flex has no cap, Pro is 40% (per 3-day cycle), and instant-funded Direct is a tight 20%. Lucid leans on short payout cycles and a 90/10 split; Topstep has the longer track record. Match the firm to your priority.
